Add on

As I was at work today I remembered something I wanted to put in my last post that I totally forgot about! I don't remember why...but Aubrey told me about this video that I HAD to see! Its about goats that faint when they get scared! OH MY GOODNESS I laughed for about ten minutes! This video is so funny! If I were to ever have a farm I would insist that I own these goats just so I could go around scaring them so they would faint...I know I know its really rude...but watch this video and you will see how silly they look!

Another thing! If any of you have access to Dance Central on xbox connect.....PLAY IT!!!! Aubrey, Richard, and I attended a "connect party" on Thursday! FUNNEST GAME EVER!!!! Aubrey was completely legit! It was her first time and she rocked that game like it was her job!!!! Loved it! So great! haha That's all!!

The Adventure Continues

I laid out by the pool today! It was great!

So I have been in San Antonio for a month now! Weird! I'm still really enjoying it out here...minus the intense heat! But good news...it rained finally this week! Tuesday was the first day it rained since I've been here! So that was...cool? So its been really humid this week due to the cloud cover...which sucks...humidity is not fun.  In the words of Aubrey its like "walking through an ocean"!  No bueno! But now that I've given you the weather for San Antonio on to the top news!

Monday as usual I had the day off and Richard decided to take me to some new places! He wouldn't tell me where we were going...so when we showed up at the Japanese Tea Gardens I was quite surprised! He told me to bring my camera so I figured it would be some place I could take cool pictures! Well when we got there my camera decided to have a diva moment and not work.  I was not happy! So hence why these pictures are just ok....they were taken with my iPhone! So here are the Japanese Tea Gardens! It was really pretty! And I'm sure in the spring when the flowers are blooming it is even more pretty!

So after the tea gardens and after driving around for a while aka Richard getting lost (even though he has lived in SA for a couple years haha) he took me to his favorite store at the Quarry Market (a shopping center kind of like the Gateway/the District).  Well lets talk about his favorite store.  It is the University of Texas Co-Op store.  Basically a store to buy University of Texas "stuff".  If you are unaware of U.T. their colors are Texas Orange(Burnt Orange) and white.  And their mascot is a Longhorn!  So when I walked into this store my eyes were overwhelmed with Texas Orange.  Pretty much everything in the store is Orange....and Orange is probably my least favorite color.  So as Richard was showing me all of this stuff he wanted it was hard for me to agree! haha And then as we were looking through the women's area all the things I liked were either gray or white! haha He finally caught on and responded with "Of course you like that, its not orange!"  I guess I should probably learn to like Texas Orange!

So after the Co-op store...we were both hungry! Richard decided to take me to his favorite place in San Antonio! Chris Madrid's!  It is this hole in the wall, dive of a restaurant.  It looks super sketch! haha I may or may not have been a little bit worried when we pulled up! But OH. MY. GOSH.  the burgers there are amazing!!!!!! Richard and I both got the "Tostada Burger".  It is a huge burger with tons of cheese, refried beans, and tortilla chips on the burger! I know it doesn't sound very good but it was DIVINE!!!!  Loved it! I now understand why it is his favorite place! Well as we were walking up to the counter to order he pointed to a shirt on the wall (mind you the store is covered with shirts signed by different people).  I didn't really know which one he was pointing too until I saw this one!
It is a white shirt with tie attached and it is the "Elder Shirt".  Every time missionaries go to Chris Madrid's they sign and date this shirt!  And it is COVERED with names!  It was really cool!!!  It made me smile really big...I don't know why! But its always fun and makes me feel good when I see or notice the presence of the church in places other than Utah!

So while at work I see some pretty interesting people! Prime "people watching" spot might I add! So I think from now on I will try to document as many of these great people as I can! This picture unfortunately is not the first case of cowboy boots over the pants! I don't quite understand why they think this looks good....the first time I witnessed this was MUCH worse....the man was wearing over-alls, a cut-off t-shirt, and his cowboy boots over his pants....man I wish I had time to take a picture of him....it was wretched!  Oh and to add to the man below....he had a full blown LEGIT cowboy hat...not the cheap ones....it was LEGIT!  I didn't capture the hat because I was trying to be discreet!

If you don't know what "planking" is, google it before you proceed!!! We saw this kid "planking" different things at the Alamo the other day! And we(Aubrey and I) applauded him and then he came to talk to us! He is making a Facebook album of him "planking" all over the place! It was awesome! He then asked us if we wanted to "plank" with him! So we left work for a minute (clearly we didn't leave the store unattended) and went to "plank" with this stranger! The picture isn't that great, but its still funny!!! That is a water fountain below us! haha awesome times!

I haven't seen too many crazy bugs here in Texas until yesterday!  As I was standing outside I watched this crazy large bug fly into our door and then fall to the ground! IT WAS DISGUSTING!!!! I immediately summoned Aubrey to come look at this sick bug! This picture does it NO justice! We were later informed that this bug has some nasty venom that with contact will leave blisters on your skin!!! YIKES!!!! I made a random person kick it so that it wasn't in our door way anymore....and THEN....it started to fly again.  Ran into our sign and fell again.  So I had yet again someone other than myself kick it out of our doorway. Unfortunately or fortunately that kick did a lot of harm to the bug and it later died.  Sad? Not really....I was a little bit relieved.

Well a month down about 2 more to go! I'm still enjoying Texas and getting more tan every week! Which I am fully enjoying! Love you all! Thanks for reading and being a part of my life as 22 year old single(kind of) LDS girl!

One Month!

Well on Tuesday the 21st I will have officially been in Texas for a month! Its crazy to think that! I honestly feel like I have been here forever! I haven't decided if that's a good thing or a bad thing...........

But any way! I am finally starting to feel settled in and like I actually live here and not just visiting.  When I'm driving around the city I actually can get myself from point A to point B without using Beatrice my handy dandy gps! But speaking of driving......TEXAS DRIVERS ARE RIDICULOUS....and people say Utah drivers are bad....NO....we are just aggressive drivers.  Texas drivers are horrid.  1. Most of the time they drive super slow...I have found myself getting super irritated because I will notice I'm driving really slow and to look at my speedometer and see I'm only driving 55 MPH!!!!!!! When is that ever ok on the freeway?! NEVER! So slow....geez.  And 2. The freeway system here is crazy! The first couple weeks here I used my gps literally everywhere I went because its insane....there are about 3 or 4 different "main" highways here and each one can take you to the same place or somewhere COMPLETELY different.  UGH! Like one day I was headed to Richard's house and I though I had been taking I-10 to his house in the past...so he said on I-10 take this exit after you pass the exit to 410.   APPARENTLY I was taking a different way than I though I had...so after the 410 exit the exit he told me never came....never came...never came.....and then I was completely lost, stuck in bumper to bumper traffic and my gas light came on.  Needless to say I used some choice words and told Richard I hate San Antonio! I later took back the hating statement.

Speaking of Richard.... :) if you've seen my Facebook just ignore....but he is officially me BF(boyfriend)! To most of you that will seem like a shock because he's only been mentioned once in my blog! But I met him the first Sunday in my singles ward....and lets just say we have been inseparable since!  He's a really great guy! And super cute!  haha last Sunday he was ambushed when he came over to find me skyping with  my family! That was fun! ;) We all had a really good time! My parents played 20 ?'s I swear! But it was fun for them to meet him over skype! Can't say that's ever happened to me before!

Other than that not a whole lot new has happened! This week was pretty uneventful besides us going to Corpus Christi again to the beach! This time wasn't so great....my car got stuck in the sand. That was fun....NOT. Aubrey used her handy digging skills to get me out whilst these 2 strangers pushed my car! Quite entertaining...I just laughed the whole time! And then later we got sand blasted as the wind picked up.  Needless to say we had sand EVERYWHERE....and my car has sand EVERYWHERE! YIKES.

So before I end this post for the day....I must just add that the strangest things happen to me while I'm working I swear! Last week me and Melissa(co-worker) got to spend some time with a python...SCARY!!

I get creeped on by old men...and drunks....and tatted(tattooed) up middle aged men! Awesome! I have weird men come take my picture saying the lighting on my face is absolutely brilliant! And also get photographed by random school kids passing by the store when I'm outside....weird....But today topped it off! I was standing by the door when this man walked by...I thought nothing of him...and then he walked in. So like usual I said "Hey have you been to a Del Sol store before?" and then our conversation went as follows.
Man: Well I really just came in for you!
Me: Oh?.....Really?!
Man: (Looking at me kind of creepy/seductive) What are you trying to be Miss America or something?! :)
Me: YES!
Man: Really?!
Me: No.....(shaking me head)
Man: Well you could be!!!
Me: Oh really?
Man: Yes you are veeeerrrrry pretty!
Me: Well thank you!
Man: Don't thank me, thank mom and dad!
Me: (under my breath) Thanks mom and dad!
And as he was inching closer to my face I got a big ol' wiff of the alcohol on his breath! SWEEET YO! And then he stumbled away....and I never saw him again! So weird! Then later...again as I was standing outside trying to get people into the store....an old man walked up to me and said "If I don't find somewhere to pee I'm going to change color in the sun!!! hahahaha" I just busted up laughing because it was so weird and funny! I told him where he could find a restroom and then he laughed and said thanks and went on his way! Good times!  Needless to say Del Sol offers me with quite the entertainment for my life..along with really sore feet...and me going home sweaty and tired from being in the small inferno I like to call San Antonio Texas!

Thanks for reading and being part of my life as a 22 year old single(or not so single anymore) LDS girl!

TEXAS!!!!!!

***DISCLAIMER-THIS WILL BE A LOOOOOOONG POST!***

I know! I know! Its been almost 3 weeks since I've been in San Antonio and this is my first time blogging! WELL........we haven't had internet and I haven't really had time to blog from my phone! But today was a great day and we got internet so here I am!!

WHERE TO BEGIN....(heavy sigh)...I guess I should start from the beginning?!

where to begin?! where to begin!?

May 21 (which feels like forever ago) I packed up the trusty Sentra and started the trek to good ol' San Antonio! Aubrey(my roommate/coworker/intern) and I had decided to drive separately so we would be able to have our own cars (which we are so glad we did).  Driving through Utah was boring but I was unaware that it would get worse the closer we got to our destination! And it did! We stopped that night around 11:00 pm and slept in Las Cruses, New Mexico literally to sleep and then get back on the road.  So the next morning bright and early (9:00am) we got BACK into our cars and continued on.  Lets talk about Texas really quick....THERE IS NOTHING TO LOOK AT WHILE DRIVING! NEVER DRIVE THROUGH THIS STATE! Luckily I had "The Hunger Games" to listen to while I was driving, which made it more bearable.  But barely!
This picture is kind of hard to see...but it was 9:51 and 80 degrees. Little did I know that was just the beginning of my summer....

There wasn't a whole lot to look at while driving except a huge dust devil.....which was quite interesting!

Buuuuut that was about it....

We finally arrived at our apt around 6:00 to open the doors and find a completely empty apartment with no furniture. (It arrived Tuesday!! Awesome...) So we slept on an air mattress for two nights!

So Monday I started work! And wow do I have a view! I was told from the beginning that our store was across the street from the Alamo...but we all know how people can exaggerate! NO NO! My store is literally across from the Alamo!  So this picture is Monday morning, my first day of work! And this is what I look at everyday!

The first couple days Aubrey and I spent our free time exploring the area! Going to the Riverwalk, which is absolutely beautiful at night! This is also what San Antonio is famous for (besides the Alamo).  It is so cool! There are so many restaurants and shops!

Our first Sunday going to our singles ward was quite the experience....we knew going into it that we would be the fresh meat....the new girls....blah blah blah....but we were NOT prepared for what happened.  We should up sit down and the meeting begins just like any other meeting....closing song, closing prayer...on to Sunday School....but we are immediately approached by this guy (later to be known as JT)  and he proceeds to say "You are the new Del Sol girls aren't you?" UUUUUMMMMMMM...............how the FREAK did he know we were the new interns? We still do not know! Apparently the old interns had told him about us....but we still don't know how exactly he knew.  Weird! I swear to you....probably half of the guys in that ward introduced themselves to us! We were not only fresh meat...we were fresh meat thrown into a shark tank full of STARVED sharks! YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok so there was an upside to being the new girls! The cute guys introduce themselves! And yes I was introduced to a really cute guy, Richard...and well we can talk about him later! :)

So our store shares a space with a Trolley Tour company.  They send their customers over to our store and we walk them over to their trolley pick up spot! Its kind of nice because we get to step out of the store every 45 minutes to walk the tour over and we get to meet a lot of people from all over the country! So one of the drivers is a singer/songwriter and invited us to go listen to him sing at an open mic night at this place called The Cove! So Aubrey, Richard, JT, Matt,(all guys from the ward) and I decided we would go have a listen! It has way good burgers and is a pretty chill place....well I found something really cool on the menu!

Well I don't like fish tacos....so needless to say I didn't get my special! But it was cool regardless!

This last weekend Aubrey's friend that lives in Austin invited us to come up! So we did! Austin is so cool! Such a different place than I expected...really artsy, indie feel to it! We ate at this way cool cupcake place called "Hey Cupcake" i believe.  Richard showed us around the city! It was awesome! So pretty! There was this big YSA activity and it was way fun! It was at this amazingly huge house with 2 pools, tennis court, soccer field, river with paddle boats and canoes, and a playground! So we hung out for about 4 hours and then went and saw X-Men....which was AWESOME! This is Austin's capitol building....it was gorgeous! They have this really cool drinking fountain that the water pours out in a downward motion haha quite tricky to drink out of!

So this last Monday and Tuesday I had the day off! So Monday I just lounged around...ran some errands...hung out with Richard! I cut his hair...he washed my car! hahahah good trade right!? I had been wanting to see the temple for a little while and he lives about 10 minutes away from it...so we took a little drive up there! It is so pretty! Its really small but really pretty and has a great view of the city!

Just ignore the fact that in most of my pictures I am and will be wearing my fedora hat! Just don't judge! (Thats Richard p.s. he's cute!)

Tuesday Aubrey and I had the day off together and we wanted to do something fun! We decided to take a day trip down to Corpus Christy which is about 2 hours south of us and go to the beach!!!!! Padre island is right off the coast so we decided to go there! South Padre has really good beaches we hear...but to get there its about another 2 hours or so....maybe shorter....so we asked the locals where to go and they suggested Whitecap! Its a pretty good beach! First of all....the water was AMAZING!!! It was so warm! I have never felt ocean water this warm! It wasn't even shocking to get in the water....it felt like a swimming pool! So we spend probably a good half hour just wading in the water bobbing with the waves! Second of all....we were at the beach so we were soooo happy!!! We laid out for a good 3 hours maybe...and then when Aubrey's skin decided it had had enough and was lobsterized we decided to head home! But before heading home we decided to treat out bodies with some good ol' Rudy's BBQ....only the most amazing bbq! When I lived in New Mexico there was a Rudy's there and we as a family became obsessed! Well Texas is full of Rudy's so I could not be happier about that!!!! Be jealous!

So needless to say I am definitely enjoying Texas! Its really hot and humid....but I do think back east is more humid....the one time I was in DC during July was waaay more humid than this...but its been about 100 degrees everyday since I've been here and everyone says it will only get worse! So....um...ya it's going to get rough! But it's going to be a very interesting summer for sure! But I cannot wait to see what this summer will bring!

I'm not missing Utah quite yet....especially cause the weather there apparently has been pretty crappy! But I am missing my family and friends! Its hard being in a new city where you know nobody! But I have made some good friends so far!

So if you are still with me after this gargantuan post....I thank you! haha From now on now that I have internet at my apartment they will not being this long or far between posts! Love you all!!!  And thanks for being a part of my life as a 22 year old single LDS girl!!!
